All of our known burials are listed on FindAGrave.com, one of the most comprehensive cemetery databases available. There are over 2,000 headstones and nearly as many unmarked graves within the cemetery grounds.
To locate a specific lot within the cemetery, use the lot map below — the same map found on the brochure available inside the cemetery gate.
Search on FindAGrave.com ↗Did You Know? The cemetery adjoins the Confederate Cemetery on Washington Ave. Enter through the Confederate Cemetery gate — the City Cemetery is to your left.
Hours: The cemetery is open daily from dawn to dusk. Motor vehicle access requires prior arrangement with the Cemetery Company.
Use this map to navigate the cemetery's 12 sections and locate specific lots.
The sections are numbered from the original gate: Sections 1–6 run along the east side from south to north, and Sections 7–12 are on the opposite side.
Section 1, Lot 1 is comprised of several sections originally bought and merged by the International Order of Odd Fellows, giving it its irregular and unusually large size.
Four lots in the center of the cemetery were donated to "the four churches" in Fredericksburg at the time the cemetery was established in 1844.
Visiting Tip: An historic cemetery can be dangerous. Do not lean, sit, or climb on grave markers. Grave rubbings are not permitted without permission. Take only photographs, leave only footprints.
